Livestock

Established in 1920, A.R. Peters and Son is a family farming business based at Plashett Park Farm, Ringmer.

Our sole business is and always has been farming and therefore we have built up considerable expertise at managing a wide variety of land. We believe that the only way to maximise the varied soil types of Sussex is with a traditional rotation including livestock, and to this end we have always practised mixed farming.

Our principal livestock business is rearing beef cattle. We have created a suckler herd from British Blue x Friesian heifer calves and we use a Bazadaise bull to create a superior quality animal. These cattle are fast-growing and maximise their food, whether grass or cereal, thus helping to reduce our carbon footprint.

In the past twelve years we have also reared thousands of dairy-bred bull calves to supply the growing demand from fast-food restaurants. All the manure from our livestock is used to grow the crops that feed them.
